14 Hour Road Trip

Over President's Day Weekend, we took a road trip to visit our three favorite Chicagoans. Little did we know a six hour road trip would turn into 14 hours! After much snow, a four hour stand still (the turnpike was shut down while a major accident was cleared), multiple white outs, three failed attempts at booking a hotel (there were no rooms left because all the travelers wanted off the roads!) and a few slips and slides we made it to Chicago. We were all so worn out from the trip that we spent the weekend lounging in the apartment. We introduced Kiera to a family favorite movie...The Music Man, we ate deep dish pizza and chop salad, Papa cooked one of his famous breakfasts, we exchanged Valentine cards and gifts, we played games and snuggled with our favorite pug. In spite of the crazy drive, we enjoyed our time together!

Father Daughter Dance 2015

Kiera and Dave went to the Girl Scout Father Daughter Dance. Kiera was super excited because it was for all of the Bay Village Girl Scouts, not only her school, because our neighbor, C was there. The night started off extra sweet when Dave gave Kiera a rose. She was so excited and thought it was so special and beautiful. Thanks to Ty for taking the before the dance pics (because I was volunteering at the school's Mardi Gras Carnival) and to our neighbor who took the pics at the dance...a blog post where I didn't take any of the pics!

Ty's idea of a cool pic :)

Happenings

Here is what's been happening lately...

~ Girl Scout's outing at Joann Fabrics ~
The girls were "Crafting for a Cause" by making hats
and scarves for kids in need.
~ Baby Shower Planning Lunch ~
Mom and I met Aunt Cheryl and Michelle for a
delicious lunch at The Mason Jar Grill and Pub.
We all had a grilled salad wedge for lunch  and shared mason
jar layered desserts) and started planning Michelle's Baby Shower.
Can't wait for Baby Bloom!

~ S's Birthday Party ~
Kiera attended a friend's birthday party at the Nature
Center. The party theme was garden fairies. Kiera got
a fairy crown and found a secret key that the fairies
left behind.
~ Curlers and Kimonos ~
Girl Scout World Friendship Day is coming up and
our troop is representing Japan. We borrowed
a kimono from Mimi for the big day. I also borrowed
hot rollers from Mimi (which had nothing to do with
World Friendship Day) other than they were both in
"Mimi's Basket" (a basket that travels between our
house and Mimi's house filled with things for Meem)
and nosey Kiera had to try both things out!

~ Six Year Old Teenager ~
We got a good laugh when Kiera showed us her classwork
using lyric's from Iggy Azalea's song "Fancy" to write a sentence
that uses the word fancy. She's six going on sixteen!
~ Mardi Gras, Kiera Style ~
Kiera celebrated Mardi Gras in true Kiera style, she pigged out
on junk food (marshmallows, animal crackers and a slush) before
giving up candy for Lent.

~ Cards for Cancer Patients~
Our town has an outreach program for families affected by cancer.
It's called Village Project and their mission is "to come together as
a community of all ages to provide nourishing meals and extended
care and service to our neighbors experiencing cancer."
Each meal is delivered with an uplifting card. Here is our Daisy Troop
posing with the cards they made. We will hand deliver the cards at our next
Girl Scout meeting when we take a tour of The Village Project! Though
being a Girl Scout co-leader is a lot of work and our meeting days
wear me out, reading the girls' sweet messages inside the cards makes
it all worth it!

Rosy Cheeks and White Snow

It "warmed" up a little this weekend (from single digit degree temps to the thirties) so Kiera and Brooke had a winter photo shoot. Look at those rosy cheeks and all that white snow!
