We watched Sparkle this weekend so my parents could head to Chicago and take Emily back to school. Kiera insisted that we keep Sparkle on her leash (even though she doesn't really need one...she stays in the yard and listens well) so she could parade Sparkle all around the yard and throughout the house.

Ty Plays at Browns Stadium
Ty got to play football at the Browns Stadium this weekend as a part of the High School Charity Game. Kiera took a nap on our way to the game, so she was rarin' to go. Before the games, there is always a Tailcat (tailgate) party. They do 'em up big time! This week's theme was Italian. We brought olives from the olive bar. Some one made sausage stuffed banana peppers and I was in heaven. It was a beautiful night, in the low eighties. We brought sweatshirts but didn't need to put them on. Ty is a line backer, number 37. They played Lake Catholic and lost 28-21 (sniff). Tyler got a bad leg cramp during the game and the trainer and coaches came on to the field to check on him. I was super excited to use the zoom lens...it made for some great pics, especially since they were taken from about 15 rows up from the field.
Happy Birthday, Papa!
Hope you had a happy birthday, Papa!

We got a surprise visit from Dave's dad last week and he came bearing gifts....one set of dishes for my birthday and one set for Dave's. Thanks, Florence and Ross! We love our new dishes!

Tyler
Usually Ty gives me a "mug shot" pose each time I want to take his picture. So imagine my surprise when I got this shot of him...
Isn't he handsome?
Fawcett Stadium
Tyler had a scrimmage on Friday night at Fawcett Stadium. It was a beautiful night; the weather was perfect! I forgot the zoom lense for the camera, so I hope to get closer shot next game. They lost the scrimmage, 30-8...so let's hope the Cats get it together before this Saturday's game at the Browns Stadium!

Where did our summer go?
Today was my first day back to school. This time of year is so bittersweet. I love summer...the warm weather, being home with Kiera, visiting parks and playgrounds, going to garage sales, Huntington Beach, gardening, eating ice cream, reading books, driving with the top down, eating dinner on the patio, drinking iced tea, swimming, having lunch with friends, playing with cousins, visiting Mimi and Papa's house, corn on the cob, sleeping in, Grandpa's Friday visits, going on vacation with our family, Tyler's baseball games, flipflops, having Ryan and Mya visit, sunscreen and sun tans (especially Kiera's tan lines on her dupa), blowing bubbles, playing with neighbors, having Auntie Em home, walking around the block. But I love the school year too...a fresh start to a new year, new students, a clean classroom, seeing colleagues and catching up, hugs from students, reading with children, lightbulb moments when my students "get it," experiments, excitement over learning to read, new pencils and crayons, decorating bulletin boards. I leave you with pictures of our last few weeks of summer.
