Leo and Maxi

This summer we got to watch Leo on Tuesdays and Thursdays when Ty was at work and Val was at class. He's such an easy going pup. He's a good boy, but his one down fall is chewing on baskets...good thing he's so cute.  One weekend this summer, Ty & Val and Mimi & Papa were out of town so we got to pet sit Leo and Maxi!

Look at all dog hair on the floor!

 Lots of playing!

Goat Yoga

Bay Arts hosts Farmer's Markets on Thursdays in the summer. One new attraction this year was goat yoga...so we grabbed our yoga mats and our neighbors and went for a new adventure! We were able to pet and hold the goats and they put food on our mats to encourage the goats to interact with us. Kiera got an extra surprise when the goat used her mat as a bathroom! The helper quickly came over to clean and disinfect her mat, but that didn't stop her from loving it. The highlight of the event was when one of the goats went on everyone's back.

Lots of petting before class begins

The goat was nibbling Kiera's bun!

Ducks on the Move!

The six ducks finally have their adult feathers so they will be leaving their "childhood" home in the garage and moving to the farm, their "forever" home.  We rounded them up and put them into their newly built duck house, then loaded the house and put it in the back of the truck. We built a temporary enclosure out of PVC pipes and chicken wire and put it over their floating duck house to help them learn that it was their new home and they would be "safe" there. We also saw the new barn flooring for the first time and Kiera wasted no time using the barn beam for gymnastics!

Ducks

The Kette Family grew by six this weekend! We got six ducks from Tractor Supply. We will raise them in our garage, yard and baby pool. Then, in spring, when it warms up a bit and they loose their baby feathers and gain their adult ones, we'll take them to the farm!

They love to stay huddled together underneath the

A "Purr-Fect" 11th Birthday

Kiera celebrated her birthday with her three favorite neighborhood friends.

First stop, dinner at Chick Fil A.
Next stop, The Affogato Cat Cafe in Tremont. Waiting
for our turn to enter the cat area.

On our way home, we stopped at this convenient store
to take a pic with the Tremont sign.

Thanks for making my birthday so "purr-fect!"

Long Weekend at the Farm

We enjoyed a long weekend at the farm, thanks to President's Day. Kiera and I both had Monday off from school and Dave took off too. We spent our time being relaxing and working...and driving to Walmart. If you know Dave, you know he doesn't carry his wallet in his pocket. We were having wifi issues and we couldn't watch Netflix, so we decided to drive into town to get a movie from Redbox. Guess who forgot their wallet? So we had to drive back to the cabin to get his wallet then drive back to town. A gang of turkeys (can also be called a rafter of turkeys, thanks for that info, Google!) came to the feed pile on Sunday morning. They were spooked off and we wondered why. A few minutes later, Kiera said she spotted deer on the hill off in the distance. At first we didn't believe her, but then we spotted them too. We love our time at the farm!

Zoo

It wouldn't be summer with out a trip (or three!) to the zoo. This year, the zoo hosted the Asian Lantern Festival. We went during the day, so we didn't see the displays lit up, but they were still beautiful. This is the second year in a row that we've taken C and G to the zoo with us.
