Trick-or-Treat

Trick or Treat!
Smell my feet!
Give me something good to eat!
If you don't, I don't care...
I'll pull down your you-know-what!
(We have Kiera's friends Isabella and Maggie from her
class to thank for teaching Kiera that lovely song!)
Dave took Kiera around the block while I passed out candy. They came home for 20 minutes or so to warm up. During that time, Kiera passed out candy. Brooke got to tag along for the second half of trick or treating. We had about 75 trick or treaters. We almost ran out of candy (thanks for your extra candy, mom!) Kiera's favorite candy this Halloween is Nerds and flavored Tootsie Rolls.

An 80 Degree October Day

Our lives are finally back to "normal" (I use that term loosely!) after being without power for 5 days! I have a quite a few pictures to catch up on. About two weeks ago, we had an 80 degree day in October. We headed to our favorite beach to soak up the sun and warm weather. Kiera spent most of her time building a sand castle while I hunted for beach glass.

Go Seek!

Our local paper, The Westshore Sun, runs a weekly feature called "Can you find this location? Go Seek!" It's a photo of a statue/object/art work located in our paper's distribution area that readers are supposed to "seek." Last week's photo was right up Kiera's alley...The location of the Go Seek! was the Rotary International Centennial Garden at the Lake Erie Nature and Science Center. Dave texted in the answer for Kiera and she got her name in the paper! Check out the link here!

How to Make Monster Slime

We had fun making monster slime! Here's how we did it...

Dissolve 1 tsp. Borax in 1 cup of warm water. Stir until mixed. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, mix a 4 oz. bottle of Elmer's Glue and 1/2 cup of water.
Add 5 or so drops of food coloring, stir well.
Add Borax and water mixture to the glue and water mixture.
Knead with your hands.
Pour out excess water.
Remove slime from bowl and put on a flat surface,
like a cutting board (for easy clean up!)
Keep on kneading.
Stretch a little, knead a little more.
Roll it into a ball. Do whatever it takes to "firm up" the slime.
Act silly when your mom asks you to hold up your slime.
Make your mom happy and give her a nice smile.
Enjoy your monster slime!

Fall Fest at Hale Farm

We went to the Fall Fest at Hale Farm and Village this weekend. It was a perfect fall day. The weather was cool, but not cold (the girls wore vests and the boys didn't wear coats) and the sun was shining. We enjoyed looking around the village, eating kettle corn, going on a hayride and seeing animals. We worked up an appetite and headed to Fischer's Pub for a late lunch.

Kiera's favorite part of the day was meeting Rodger the sheep

Walk in the Woods

After the playground we went for a walk in the woods.
We finished our afternoon with a trip to Malley's for ice cream.
