Memorial Day

We spent Sunday of Memorial Day at the farm.
We tested out the new dock...in fact, we relaxed there all day!

Standing on the knoll looking at the dock

Thanks, Mimi!

Brooke freely roams around the farm...we were sitting on the
dock and she was on the left side of the pond on "Mermaid Rock."
If you look very closely, you can see her.
First (of many) jumps off the dock

Brooke isn't a dock jumper (yet), she's more of a
mosey-in-from-the-water's-edge kind of pup

Trying out her kayak for the first time...
Thanks, Nanny Jane!

I'd say her first time kayaking was a success, wouldn't you?!
Dave made friends with Woody, one of the excavators working at the farm,
and invited him and his family over for the picnic. He showed up
with a "pick up truck bed cooler" full of drinks! We were dying, none
of us had scene anything like it before. Turns out, the local ice company,
Millersburg Ice, shaves the ice down to small cubes and they pile
up the shaving "scraps" in the back lot. The shavings are free and you can
take as many as you'd like. We are definitely going to try it sometime!

Jesus Day

The first grader's at St. Raphael's always put on a performance called "Jesus Day" which is a day of songs and praise, a homily by Father Tim, readings and lunch with parents. Before the big day, we put sponge rollers in Kiera's hair. Two curls were still wet in the morning, so Kiera's personal hairstylist (aka Dave!) dried the hair in the wet rollers. She looked so cute and curly! Because the performance was in the middle of the day, only I could make it. Kiera's part was a speaking part. She introduced Jesus Day. Here are her lines..."We have learned so much about Jesus this year. He loved and cared for everyone. He didn't care if you were rich or poor, young or old, he cared for everyone. He wants us all to follow him."

Nice Christmas jammies in May!

The procession into the church...she spotted me!
Each class makes a banner in first grade that follows them
to eighth grade

Mrs. Brennan is retiring this year. Kiera filled out a memory
page for a scrapbook and when asked what she would miss
most about Mrs. Brennan, Kiera wrote "her."

First Softball Game

This is Kiera's first year playing coach pitch softball. So far, so good! She likes softball for two reasons...Four of her closest friends are on the team and because Tyler played baseball. She even traded her shirt to get #11 like Tyler. Her team sponsor is Romeo's Pizza.

Batter up!

Aunt Kate came to the game to cheer Kiera on!

K and J off to get ice cream!
A celebratory cone for a first game well done!
