Homecoming #3

Kiera went to Bay's Homecoming (her third homecoming dance)
with one of her favorite neighborhood pals, G and her group of
girl friends. Kiera said this was the best dance so far and then
she asked, "Can I transfer to Bay High?"

Though she looks taller than me in the pic,
I've still got 1/2" on her!

Homecoming #2

This weekend Kiera went to her second homecoming dance at Avon with a friend named Aidan, whom she met at the Avon vs. Avon Lake football game with friends. We met for pictures at Miller's Preserve then the kids went off to dinner at Three Palms in Crocker. Kiera says she had a good time and her favorite  memory was when someone threw a piece of pizza at Aidan and he had to buy a new shirt at Crocker (not a "good" memory in my opinion, but that's what she said).

Rainbow

Woke up this morning to a rainbow in our backyard! Dave and I normally sit on the couch in the living room and drink our coffee. But today, since Dave is at the farm and I'm home, I sat in the kitchen with the back door open so kitty could enjoy the fresh air. She likes to sneak out on the porch, so I was sitting in the kitchen to keep an eye on her...and it's a good thing I did, because I spotted this beauty! Had I been sitting in the living room I may have missed it!

This is the view I first saw from the kitchen with the rainbow in our
backyard, then I walked outside to the front to capture the colorful arch
with our house in the foreground.

Potato Harvest

We tried growing potatoes for the first time this year. We planted them in grow bags and they sat on our driveway. We planted two bags, one white potatoes and one with red. Each bag started with three  organic tubers (shriveled up potato starts with eyes on them). We harvested them this weekend
and we can't wait to eat them!

Our bounty!

St. Raphael School Homecoming 2021

The 8th grade fall sports were recognized at the St. Raphael Homecoming game this weekend. The girls got a flower and their names were announced as they walked on the field at halftime. The announcer didn't say her name right (something like Key-era Key-tee) but we're used to that so it gave us a good chuckle!

Kiera #8

Father Tim and the team

Teammates and Friends!

Proud Parents! Dave was there too, but he was in the
stands talking (no surprise there!)

Each 8th grader received a yard sign.
Here's Kiera begrudgingly posing with hers!

June This and That

We're not even halfway through the month of June, but we've already had a lot of good times!

Sand volleyball with some of her club teammates...
M, E, V, K and K

Maxi among the wildflowers at the farm

Kiera and some classmates are playing softball on the Westlake
Rec league. Here's Kiera (catcher) and Dave (helper coach)
Ty & Val came to cheer Kiera on at her softball game...
...grandpa too!

For Mother's Day, Kiera bought me a bunch of mini succulents
which I transplanted into our favorite tea tins to make a rainbow planter!
For the record, our two fave teas are the orange tin (Hot Cinnamon Sunset)
and the yellow tin (Yellow & Blue) which is a chamomile and lavender blend.
Got to spend the day with Leo and Lenny...
Here's Leo soaking up the sunshine!
They are cute (and lazy!) coworkers

Kiera tried CYO Track for the first time this year,
competing in the 400m, 200m, and discuss. Here are the members
of the 7th grade track team at the track banquet.
Girl Power!

Kiera and C on the paddle board on Lake Erie to watch the sunset

Another trip to the Lake, with G this time, but it was too choppy to go in

Last Day of 7th Grade

And just like that, Kiera said goodbye to 7th grade and hello to summer! The school year ended a day earlier than planned this year, on June 7th, a Monday. Because the year was basically over and grades were already submitted, we did something we don't normally do - a school night sleepover! Kiera had two friends sleepover. The girls went to bed around 11:30 and were up at 6:30. The school day doesn't start until 9, but they went to the local coffee shop, Mojo's for breakfast before school.

A new look to our first/last day pics as our home reno is finally complete!

K+ MG + R = Friends Forever

Love these silly pics!

An interview with Kiera about some of her favorite 7th grade memories:
