Fun Adventure

Our neighbor had to work and their babysitter was sick so C and J
spent the day with us. We went on a fun adventure...to the Nature Center,
on a nature scavenger hunt, out to lunch and to a new playground in Avon.
Made me miss Kiera's toddle days when we used to go these places on a
weekly, if not daily, basis.

Girl Scout Bridging Ceremony

They started out as a group of eight Kindergarten girls in Daisies and are now a group of 13 second grade Brownies. To mark their change in rank, we had a Girl Scout Bridging Ceremony "bridging" the girls from Daisies to Brownies. They ceremony took place on a bride in Clague Park. It was symbolic, simple and sweet. I read an interactive story about a ungrateful little girl that changed into a kind, helpful and responsible girl after looking in the pond for a reflection of someone who could make a difference...that person is ME! Then the girls walked across the bridge one by one and received their new Brownie vest from Miss Lia. We ended the ceremony with a picnic at the park.

Waiting for their turn to "bridge"

Reciting the Girl Promise
"On my honor I will try: To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times and to live by the Girl Scout Law."
We ended with the Friendship Circle
Then the girls decided to put all of their hands in and cheer "Brownies!"

Softball Party

Kiera's first season of coach pitch softball is over. She was on the red team, sponsored by Romeo's Pizza. She loved it, not so much the sport itself, but the fact that a lot of her friends were on the team! It was a rainy spring, so quite a few games were cancelled. Last week was her last make up game. The coaches planned a little party after the game. The girls had the best time! The cake says it best...Way to go Romeos!

Happy Birthday, Grandpa!

We celebrated Grandpa's birthday with lunch at our favorite spot, The Courtyard, followed by birthday ice cream at Honey Hut. Then off to the park for some exploring and it didn't disappoint!

Kiera's favorite memories of the day...
-The waterfall
- Seeing a snake and trying to hold it
-Seeing horse droppings along the trail and loudly letting us know each time she did!
-Birthday ice cream with grandpa

Daisy Girl Scout Picnic

We celebrated our first year of being Daisy Girl Scouts (Kiera as a Daisy and me as a co-leader) with an end of the year picnic at the park. The girls played a lot...the playground, a water balloon toss, shaving cream cap and cheese ball toss, piƱata and made bubble snakes.

Memphis Kiddie Park

Grandpa and I took Kiera to the Memphis Kiddie Park. It was her first trip there. Her favorite ride was the merry-go-round; she rode it three times!

Happy 4th!

We had a laid back Independence Day. Dave went to watch Tyler's game in the morning. Kiera and I stayed home because we had a looong day yesterday and she was still sleeping when Dave left. She woke up at 8:5o! He came home and we headed to the park.

We took a hike in the Metropark by our house
We were walking for less than a minute when Dave spotted a deer eating leaves
She let us get pretty close to her...
