Kiera is taking swim lessons for the first time. It's every morning for two weeks. Yesterday was her first day, and she did great (maybe due to the fact that I promised her a "Twizzle Rod" (aka Twizzler) if she was good. I signed her up for the preschool class, but the lifeguard moved her up to "Level 1" because she can swim underwater (even it's it's only for like 6 seconds!). She can also "swim backwards" which is her version of floating on her back and kicking her legs. She is a hoot to watch, especially when she has her goggles on! I'll have to snap a pic of that one of these days. Though it's difficult to take pics at the pool when I'm in the water with her all the time.

Third of July
Backwards chronological order...Our July 3rd Cook Out! I didn't get a pic of the whole gang...Dave, Becky, Kiera, Tyler, Mimi and Papa (who was late due to storm duty!), Ryan and his friends Jesse and Angie, our neighbor Kate...but did get quite a few shots of the set up. Much to Dave's dismay...it was a Mason jar kind of party! We used them for drinks, centerpieces and even dessert! We had steaks, homemade mac and cheese, cucumber/pineapple salad, corn on the cob, Mama Jo pies (thank you Ryan...your dad is still gorging himself on the strawberry rhubarb pie!) and mini apple pie in mason jars. We had a nice, laid back afternoon and evening.

RAW photo contest
I am liking up with Sam on her blog Sailor and Company for her RAW photo contest. The rules are simple, take a picture following a theme (this week's theme is America) and submit your raw photo (raw meaning un-edited, straight from the camera, no cropping or enhancing). Be sure to look at the other photos in the contest...they are great!
Happy Independence Day!
Our 4th of July was a deja vu of our 3rd of July party, and it was a blast! Our menu was more relaxed...footlong hot dogs, baked beans, cole slaw, raspberry lemonade, and frozen novelties for dessert. After dinner we went to Cahoon Park to watch the fireworks. We tried to explain to Kiera that July 4th was Independence Day/America's birthday. To which she replied..."If it's a birthday, we get to have cake!"
